I loved this movie. Boogie Nights is by Paul Thomas Anderson who gets all his actors to sink into their roles. Ive seen this twice now and it was as electric as the first time. Mark Walhberg plays Eddie Adams aka. Dirk Diggler who is a slighty stupid but genuine and talented person for what he does which is porn. Anderson as in a lot of his movies has Pseudo
-families going on in the the plot and much of the scenes are steady cam and follow the people rather then cuts between them but dont get me wrong there are many cuts in some scenes between people. Like the beginning long steady cam shot which allows for all the craziness of meeting the people to subside and just to get to the meat of the story. overall i really like this movie

I have just watched Hard Eight and i gotta say its a pretty good movie overall but it seemd too short like everything was rushed and planned so easily but maybe thats why it works i dont know. I could see some parrels to Boogie Nights which is two years after Hard Eight. In the Beginning i heard a musical motif that is used in boogie nights when all these kind of bad things are happening or maybe even somekind of divine intervention. Another parrel is that of the coffee shop in both movies. In boogie nights dirk diggler is picked up by jack horner and given a propostion or at least a start or one and also in Hard Eight Sydney makes a propostion to help John with his money troubles and also in both scenes it starts and ends with a side view of the table and usually thats the one shot of more the one person who are on opposite sides of the table. Overall i really liked this movie.

Daniel Plainview is an amibitious, hard working, persuasive, confrontational take no shit man who is the head of his own driling company. A man finds him to extract oil from his families land and the twin brother has problems with this because he feels Plainview is taking advantage of the town he can have the oil money to himself and terror insues. This music thoughout the movie has similarites to Hard Eight and Boogie Nights because of how the music creates a sort of theme that something bad is going to happen. I also see the pseudo family happens when one of Daniels workers dies and so he takes the baby as his own and names him H.W. and his other workers all look out for him. also like the other movies the "son" leaves in someway from altercation between him and the "father" of the pseudo family. but then either through the sons realization or the fathers that they need the family together to have it as good and for them to be happy. this movie was long sometimes boring but had a really good look to it. and i love Daniel Day Lewis so it was worth to watch him act so perfectly.
